i know right..this is like my 1st entry after 432985903 yrs..band life is to freaking awesome to be blogged about..i'd rather spend my time in band than blogging anyway..that's beside the point..im still quite pissed over the results..call me sour for all i care, i really dont think we deserve that ugly medal..and if you think the same, come support us and watch prelude 29!!im sure it'll leave you wondering how the hell did we even get a silver

I managed to listen to the whole day too.My ranking of the schools today -1) TJC2) RJC3) ACJC4) CJC5) TPJC6) NJC7) MJC.... the restI felt TJC, ACJC, and TPJC deserved better results too. TJ's extreme makeover was really exciting and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire performance. RJ's interpretation of the Daphne was quite beautiful. ACJC started well but somehow the intensity did not last till the end of the piece. CJC was pretty precise in their performance but I felt could have more emotions. TPJC started safely in their set and was really enjoying the interpretation of Machu, ending with a very emotional ending. NJC had an impressive sound too but was messy at parts. MJC I thought was a bit lucky as they had quite a few hiccups in their performance but still managed to pull it off. A bit slow and draggy for me on many parts.To all band members: do not think too much about today's results. I can imagine how much hard work you all have put in to put up this amazing performance. Good luck to the bands tomorrow!yey, I could manage to listen whole day today.Just a my wow list No1 of today was RJC.It was a history, now, there is a band able to handle the Ravel's music so musicaly in Singapore.I love the way the band played slow part, so colorful but not too strong.No2 was TJC.Their tutti sound was really wow! thick, great harmony and rich tone.If there is a difficulity of music in judging criteria , TJC scored a point.I like the choice of music, I don't think the conductor choose this music if he is the type just care the result of the SYF.He wanted to play music to express something, that is why he had chosen this music.bravo! I dunno wasn't there cuz of exams T.T. Extreme makeover is seriously a tough choice piece. Did they do the bottle thing and how was their sax quartet?I really felt that TJC played fairly well. Guess the judges didn't like it.Sigh.i think tj got silver cos they were too loud & they sounded messy. but i can't really judge cos it was my first time listening to extreme makeover.If TJ was loud, I guess you haven't heard some other bands.messy? I have explained in my previous post. Also that piece is difficult and messy in nature with running notes all over. Go listen to professional recording, they are "messy" as you sayTPJC was really not bad. with good sound and balance. They are neat. I will not compare TPJC with MJC, although played the same pieces. My personaly preference/opinion might cause a big hooha if i comment them here. So I shall refrain from it.TJC was really very good. From the opening of extreme till very last bit. they did very well for a Junior College band with consideration of the difficulty of their choice piece, "extreme makeover". Really they did very well. All the running and others. Really good.Personally I am not sure how come TJC will get such results (a silver?) but to me they worth AT LEAST A GOLD, although I expected a better outcome (honours). Even for TPJC, I do think they deserve better than a Silver. I seriously do not wish to make any comparison but it's hard. it's human nature. I won't post it here. I don't want a commotion. PS: to those who have not heard Extreme makeover before and went for SYF today, the back part for Extreme is difficult and messy by itself (it is written that way), with all the cannon or fugue (different instruments come in at different timing while the previous instrument that came in still playing the whole melodic phrase). I said this caused I heard people saying they sound messy with different instruments come in late and all over the place at that fugue part. To all TPJC and TJC band members, you all have done your very best. It doesn't matter how the 6 judges think, you all have done a good job and of course, to alot of band conductors and audience, you all do deserve better award. For those who doesn't like what I have typed. You can say I am bias or whatsoever... but one thing I want to state here. "I have ears, so do the rest of the audience members."anyway, i think linsheng and the band did a marvelous job and everyone felt shiok after playing our pieces..it was truly TJBand Magic..really thank the alumni for everything they've done for us (including defending us)..reading their entries just make me wanna cry all over again..to my section: dont be too sad over what has happened because we cant do anything about that except work harder and live stronger..you guys are still wonderful musicians and i love you all very very much..
